The Real Manhunt: The Night Stalker takes a look at the real-life case behind Martin Clunes’ ITV crime drama

Susanna Reid will be delving into the real case behind Manhunt The Nightstalke

The highly-anticipated second series of Manhunt, starring Martin Clunes was aired last week and now ITV is going behind the drama to look at the real case of The Night Stalker.

Manhunt: The Nightstalker was a dramatic adaptation about Operation Minstead, the investigation which led to the arrest and conviction of rapist and burglar Delroy Grant, who raped and targeted elderly people for nearly 20 years.

On Thursday, September 30, a documentary hosted by Susanna Reid will look at the true case as she interviews senior officers who were part of Operation Minstead.

The documentary called The Real Manhunt: The Night Stalker, will air on ITV at 9pm and will follow Susanna as she looks at the facts of the horrific case.

Susanna will be speaking to the real Colin Sutton, who is played by Martin Clunes in the drama, and whose diaries the drama was based on, as well as Deputy Superintendent Simon Morgan, played by Matt Bardock, and SAC Sue Akers.

Delroy Grant was able to escape and fool the police for 17 years as he is suspected to have committed over 100 offences.

It took Detective Chief InspectorSutton and his team a 17-day stakeout to catch Grant and end Operation Minstead.

The Real Manhunt: The Night Stalker will air on Thursday, September 30 on ITV at 9pm
