So onto lighting proper. Although I hope you enjoyed your browse around the new Decorator’s Notebook store yesterday, today we are looking at this beauty from Graham and Green.
So many floor lamps all end up looking drearily the same, but the elegant curve of this rather appeals to me and the splash of beaten gold on the inside is a) unexpected and b) will add a warm and flattering glow to both faces and spaces. Good tip that by the way, remember it.
And now for the rant: Dear Graham & Green, I have lost count of the number of times I have browsed through your catalogue with its beautifully styled photographs and gorgeous homewares to find that the very thing I have fallen in love with, the very thing that I MUST HAVE, is out of stock. And there is a polite box asking me to tick if I wish to receive an email when it is back in.
I have done that before. In fact I did it two years ago. Still waiting for that email by the way. Please, please, either buy more stock or tell us up front that there will be a wait. But don’t tempt us with lovely things only to say that not only can we not have them now, but that we will have to wait for an unspecified length of time before we can.
Because that tactic leads in only one direction: Google and another stockist.
Would that be all right? In the mean time there are lots of other, fabulous, lights on the site. I just happen to want this one. It’s £225 by the way.
