Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol LIVE: UK start time, ringwalks, undercard, live stream and how to watch light heavyweight title fight in Las Vegas

The great Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will return to the light heavyweight division tonight to challenge for the WBA title against undefeated champion Dmitry Bivol.

Canelo has enjoyed an incredible few years, claiming world titles at different weights and against all manner of opponents.

He beat Caleb Plant last November to add the WBO super middleweight title to his stunning collection.

The Mexican currently boasts a record of 57 wins and one defeat and is determined to claim more gold off Bivol.

The unbeaten Russian has held the WBA strap since November 2017 and retained the belt by beating Umar Salamov last December.

But he has not fought anyone of Canelo’s calibre and will be in for a huge test in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Friday’s weigh-in saw Bivol tips the scales first and come in at 174.6 pounds while Canelo was 174.4 pounds.

Canelo vs Bivol: What’s been said?

Canelo Alvarez: “I love boxing. I love a challenge. I love that adrenaline. I need to accomplish everything to be in the books of history of boxing. That’s why I’m here and I love what I do.

“When you see the best fighter go up and down a weight class and beat all the champions? I think nobody, and I try to do my best. For boxing, for me, for my legacy.

“[Dmitry’s] a really good boxer. He’s a solid champion at 175. It’s a dangerous fight. I like it, I love that kind of challenge. I really like it. But, I believe in my abilities, and I’m strong too. So, I’m confident in that, but it’s gonna be a really good fight.

“I like the idea to be undisputed at 175. That’s what I like, but you never know.”

Dmitry Bivol: “Canelo can spar against aliens and that doesn’t change anything.

“I’ve also done it with cruiserweights or heavyweights as well. The truth is, it doesn’t matter in the least, because in the end it’s just sparring.

“I will try my best to make a good fight.

“I will try to win and I trust all my skills to make it a great fight for everyone out there.”
